Dear Photography Committee!

Welcome to the 2018-2019 Season! We are looking forward to a fun year of photography!  The Garden Club has a busy year ahead with our big show this Spring.  To that end, we will have the following four simple and fun competitions:

September 11, 2018:  Exhibition.  Theme: Favorite Summer Photograph and/or Summer Patterns

November 13, 2018:  Judged Sweep.  Theme: Leaf Peeping

February 12, 2019:  Judged Sweep.  Theme: Old Man Winter

June 11, 2019   Judged Sweep.  Theme: Roses

Classes: Macro Rose, Multi Rose, Single Rose, Manipulated Rose

Photos for all sweeps and exhibitions should be 8" x 10" with a white matte border unless otherwise specified.  Plant material, if used, should be identified by common and botanical name.

Susie Brewer has very generously offered her time and expertise to our committee.  Prior to each competition (except September) she has agreed to lead a workshop/field trip to help us shoot our best pictures   We are so lucky!  Thank you, Susie!

We are looking forward to a great year and we encourage all of you to take as many pictures as possible and please enter those photographs!

We will also be forwarding a great opportunity - Photography 101 offered from 10am to 3pm on October 3, 2018 in Fairfield.  It is for beginner-advanced photographers.  Spots will go quickly!  Please sign up soon.

Thank you very much and please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Best,

NOTES FOR THIS YEAR:

Please drop off all photo entries by the date indicated, which will always be the Sunday before our meeting.  There will be a bin outside Juliet Cain’s house at 81 Locust Hill Road, Darien. You can, of course, drop your photographs off prior to Sunday as well, as the bin will be out there for that weekend.  Always include your photograph WITH your entry form filled out and taped to the back.  Please be sure to put your name on it, and indicate which is top and bottom. We are making entering easier this year, by keeping the same white matte border format on all entries.  This way you can reuse that same matte border over and over - if it stays clean - of course!  The best selection of matte borders is from Big Shots, Darien, and Michaels Craft Store in Stamford.   And as always, please feel free to contact us, if you have any questions at all!
